It's a question of which the drug, Celebrex, will be given, and in what dosage. The FDA is not required to provide a specific answer on the subject.
As part of the drug approval process, the drug maker has asked the Food and Drug Administration for a new drug on the market that is indicated for treating pain, fever, and the signs of heart failure. The company will be providing that drug in a more precise dosage form to the FDA and will be given a generic equivalent.
The company will then be able to begin marketing the drug at a lower dosage to the consumer.
A spokeswoman for the company, John Smith, said the company was not aware of any changes to the drug's form. "We believe there's no change in the form that we know of," Smith said in an email. "As a result, there's no change in the approved dosage of Celebrex."
As a result, Smith said, Celebrex will be available in capsules. Celebrex will be available in the form of an oral suspension and tablets. But the company will not be prescribing the capsules.
The company will not be giving Celebrex to pregnant women. Smith said the FDA is not expected to approve a generic version of the drug that would be sold at a lower dosage to the consumer. Smith said the company is not giving Celebrex to patients with heart failure or a recent stroke.
The company said it was not providing a specific answer to Smith's questions.
Smith said it was still working on a generic version of Celebrex and has not received any positive responses to its questions about its generic version.
In addition, the company said that it was not disclosing the specific dosage of Celebrex to patients.
"For safety, we are not disclosing the results to patients of a new medication that is currently being marketed to treat a serious condition," Smith said. "Any information that we obtain from patients is very preliminary and does not constitute professional medical advice."
Smith said that it had not made any progress on the Celebrex drug for several years, but that it had been working on a version with the same active ingredient. The drug has been available in capsule form for up to four weeks.
Smith said that it was not disclosing the Celebrex to patients or anyone else.
"As we continue to work on this, our primary focus has been the clinical trials of Celebrex," Smith said. "We are continuing to work with our doctors to determine what is best for patients and patients the best way to take care of their medical conditions."
